One Bill-YUN dollars

oy,

As reported on Bloomberg:

Pfizer has spent $1 billion on research into torcetrapib, including a study of the drug’s ability to prevent death and heart complications, according to the company.

And you thought government studies were, umm, ‘a waste of tax payer money’.

Exercise is free. And diet - you gotta eat anyway, why not eat well.

One BILLION dollars for a drug that results in more deaths than doing nothing.

How to make high cholesterol irrelavant

Pfizer announced over the past weekend that they were shutting down trails on their hoped to be blockbuster drug torcetrapib.

Said drug would be marketed to reduce cholesterol.

Seems one of the effects was death. Yep the death rate for subjects taking the drug was over 60% greater than the death rate for subjects doing nothing.

Imagine if half the money spent on said drug was spent on nutrition education… we’d see a reduction in cholesterol and a DECREASE in deaths.
Just a thought.
